This tour makes a luxurious way to see most of the Big Island with an inexpensive Kona round trip option!
Living up to our "Best Tour in Hilo"designation, let us show you an exciting side of the Big Island! Climb aboard a luxury tour vehicle for a memorable and exciting adventure to Puna, located on the southeast corner of the Big Island and home to some spectacular natural and volcanic sights. Kilauea Volcano has been erupting continuously since 1983, and has added hundreds of acres of new land to the island. This creation has come at a price, and, as you set off on your journey, watch an audio-visual presentation showing footage of the eruption. You'll hear firsthand stories of life in Kalapana from the former residents who witnessed the destruction of their homes just a few years ago! You will visit the site of what was once the most beautiful black sand beach in the world, Kaimu, entombed since 1990 under 75 feet of black lava. Walk across the recent black lava flows, and feel the warmth of the newborn black sand beach here. We will stop at MacKenzie State Park to view the dramatic cliffs of lava overlooking the brilliant blue waters of the Pacific. Enjoy a delicious picnic style deli lunch at a working macadamia nut and honey farm complete with the beverage of your choice including chilled champagne and cold locally brewed beer. Relax and enjoy the panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean before reboarding your vehicle for a drive into a 350 acre volcanic crater. Home to one of only two fresh water lakes on the Big Island, the crater sits on the flanks of Kilauea Volcano and is a spectacular and pristine tropical rain-forest. To cap off this extraordinary adventure, we will visit world-famous Rainbow Falls from a private viewing platform tucked just feet from the top of the Falls and available only to you! Sip a cup of fresh roasted and brewed coffee picked fresh from the tree just for you as you feel the power and fury of the Falls just feet away. A breathtaking way to end your adventure to Puna.
Molten lava will not be seen on this tour. Comfortable, closed toe walking shoes are re-quired. Itinerary direction may change.
