About Arthur
Arthur Wierzchos says he made his way to the Big Island to find a new life, a new beginning. Seems like a notion that runs in his family as Arthur was born in Austria just days following his family’s clandestine defection from the oppressive communist regime in Poland. You’ll have to ask him for the details, but trust us when we say that the story is fantastic!We’re lucky and very glad to have him. Guests call Arthur “excellent” and “exceptional” and marvel at his ability to retrieve and open fresh coconuts on tour. Arthur is a true outdoorsman listing surfing, fishing, camping, free diving, stargazing and hiking as just some of his favorite pastimes. We’re amazed he has time to work! Arthur is our preeminent lava guide, having escorted guests to the lava flows for more than five years. He loves the volcano, and has taken some breathtaking photographs of the lava. Arthur will oftentimes spend his off-hours in the same locations that he takes guests on tour! Arthur lists our Evening Volcano Explorer as his favorite tour, and his enthusiasm shows. Guests call Arthur “entertaining” and “personable”, making them “feel like family”. Guests have even been known to proclaim their tour with Arthur as “the best shore excursion I have ever taken!”
