The Hawaiian word "kuleana" means, among other things, responsibility. It is a very important part of our kuleana at KapohoKine Adventures to give back in any way we can. We're honored that groups big and small, from local community charter schools to national organizations like Make A Wish, have approached us for help in many different ways.

Cody Peaty had a dream, and Cody dreams BIG! Cody's dream was that he would be able, someday, to bring his family to Hawaii. He imagined taking them flying in a helicopter, swimming in a waterfall, seeing lava from a volcano.

Thanks to KapohoKine Adventures and the Make-A-Wish....

A visit to the 9th Ward of New Orleans was heartbreaking for us. More than three years after Hurricane Katrina left horrific devastation in it's wake and entire blocks remained untouched and unlivable. Helping the folks at Habitat for Humanity build a home for one long-suffering family was hugely rewarding,....

Work Hard Play Hard, an awesome service group from University of Hawaii Hilo asked us to help them get up to the summit of Mauna Kea and remove litter and rubbish. Always a great experience to work with these guys, and it's so refreshing to see a dedicated group of....

What an honor: we were asked to help clear an ancient taro field of weeds and prepare it for planting. This valley has been in use for growing taro for as long as people have inhabited the Big Island, and it was a humbling experience to be knee deep in....

We volunteer four days a year to clean up the litter along a two mile stretch of highway in Kalapana. It's a beautiful area with a`a and pahoehoe lava flows cutting through ancient rain and dry forests. It's also the main route to the current lava activity and used by....

This gorgeous church in Kalapana was decommissioned many years ago after being moved from it's sanctified grounds in the face of the approaching lava flows. The local community joined together to lift the church off of it's foundation, load it onto a flatbed tractor trailer and haul it out of....
